    1. Nicola Winstanley MattJames Is a well-known author, some of his books are a fascination for readers like in the The Pirate's Bed book, this is one of the most wanted Nicola Winstanley MattJames author readers around the world.

    2. The story idea is a great one. The pictures were only OK in my opinion, and the author sometimes used words that were too advanced for what I assume was the target age. I don't mind teaching my kids one or two new words in a book, but I had to do it enough that the kids were a little frustrated. Some of the words I think were too advanced for a children's picture book: "sickle-shaped", "expanse", "unencumbered" (seriously?), "large brimmed hat", "raucous", "briny", "sensible". Again, I'm all for [...]

    3. I received a free digital copy of this book in return for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley! The bit and I read this one last night. Although the story ended up being rather cute, the illustrations were terrible and the vocabulary was a little advanced. We try and read nightly and the only time I read to him is when books have too many difficult words or the writing isn't in a simple font (why do authors do this?!). For a picture book, this shouldn't be the case. There were so many that I rea [...]

    4. **SPOILERS** **SPOILERS** THE PIRATE'S BED makes for a cute bedtime story. It begins by talking about the pirate and how he dreams and snores at night, and how the tossing seas don't bother him a bit. AND THEN the author threw me for a loop by making the story about the Bed and not the pirate. You see they --the pirate and the bed-- get separated. The pirate and his buddies end up on a delightful island while the bed floats along, at first happy to be free of the pirate who doesn't wash his feet [...]

    5. A silly kid's book that adds personification to a bed. The bed can, for instance, smell the pirate's feet, feel the rock of the ocean, and so forth. I enjoyed the advanced vocabulary that many complain about being over the head of the target audience because how else will you enlarge your child's vocabulary other than by using words that they do not yet know? It may mean that you have to read this to your child and they can't read it for themselves, and the first couple of times through the book [...]

    6. A new twist on the pirate story, the life of the bed where a pirate sleeps. It seems like a story that a child would tell, with lots of "and then" sort of moments, but it's a charming story. Pirates are only the beginning, and the bed goes on adventures of it's own.

    7. The Pirates Bed is a picturebook by Nicola Winstanley. It is currently scheduled for release on March 10 2015. A pirate is sleeping snug in his bed when a great storm comes up at sea. The pirate sleeps on, but his bed is awake and scared of the thunder and the angry waves. Tossed this way and that, the ship finally crashes, sending the pirate to a tropical island and his bed off to sea. At first, the bed is happy and enjoying its freedom. no more smelly feet, snoring or scratchy wool. It floats [...]

    8. Although the bed on a pirate ship is annoyed by its inhabitant's noise and constant movement, when a storm causes a shipwreck, the two are separated. The pirate lands on a deserted island where he and the other survivors make due. The bed bobs along the sea, reveling in the delights of being alone at first, but eventually it misses having someone making use of it. Once it lands on the shore and is restored by a craftsman, it ends up being bought by a mother looking for a bed for her pirate-lovin [...]

    9. I really enjoyed this story, how inventive to have the story be about the Pirates bed instead of the pirate himself. The bed ends up on quite the adventure at sea only to discover that he shouldn't have taken some things for granted. I love how while reading the book you can relate to the poor bed. I think the children will really like the angle of the story being about the bed as well. The illustrations felt like they where drawn by an older child which I think really added to the story.I have t [...]

    10. This was a very enjoyable book. I really liked the concept of the bed's adventure; it was an unusual take. The illustrations were brilliantly colored and extremely playful in nature. Though the pictures were somewhat peculiar, they did not detract from the story. The unexpected ending with the carpenter, the mother, and the ongoing gifting was utterly charming. 11. I read this to my 4 and 5 year old boys. When I finished the story, I asked them what they thought and they gleefully (and rather loudly) cheered "Again, again!" It really was a beautiful story that was also fun to read (especially if you change your voice to sound like a pirate). I also really enjoyed the art, it was like an older child painted it; it felt like imagination and inspiration. As a parent, I loved the message that you could find something old and damaged but with some TLC, make it [...]

    12. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. As someone who loves her bed, I was quite excited when this book took an exciting turn--we start the story believing it will be about the pirate, but the hero is actually the pirate's bed! One of the most unique, heartwarming, funny, and enveloping picture books I've read in a while. The illustrations were different and beautiful. I would gladly recommend this book to anyone who loves pirates, or beds, or [...]

    13. The adventures of a pirate's bed who longs for a sleeper.I just don't get this. It seems like this book was born from a situation the author experienced with her child and that she dreamed up a reason her child would need to stay in bed (the bed needs a sleeper, much the same way toys find value in belonging to a child), but this story is way too much of a stretch for me. Acrylic paint and India ink illustrations are childlike and just not my cup of tea.I can't see myself ever recommending this [...]

    14. The Pirate's Bed was not what I was expecting. My little one loves adventure and action and when I saw this I got excited, "oh Pirates!" But don't be fooled only the bed winds up on an adventure and because it is a bed it is more of a drifting tale. It is a sweet book but we found it a little slow and minimal on the excitement factor. 3/5 stars

    15. The pirate is sleeping in his bed rocked by a ferocious storm at sea, when a giant wave crashes the ship into the rocks of an island. The pirate lives happily ever after, but what happens to the bed? After many adventures did it end up being *your* bed? Maybe you will dream pirate dreams and the bed will tell you where the treasure is. I loved the sweet unexpectedness of this bedtime story.

    16. The journey of this hardy bed will appeal to all little pirate mateys.Rough but colorful illustrations match the rough colorful life of a pirate.I especially like the big eyes on the bedposts that are watching

    17. I found this full of surprises. I got goosebumps toward the end. It's in the longer side and it veers a bit at the end, but otherwise a jolly good picture book.

    18. Charming story of a pirate's bed that gets lost at sea, but finally drifts ashore to find happiness with a little boy who loves using his imagination.

    19. really this book should just be called "the bed". the pirate only makes a brief appearance. I can appreciate what the author is doing here, but it's not one of my faves

    20. The picture of the pirate's nose! Oh my goodness the nose shot! Ahhhhh! Anyway, tried to read this but it was sooo tedious. Just ended up flipping through, skimming here and there.

    21. This was a cute story about furniture. I even liked the illustrations. It was a different take on a pirate story, and it was very enjoyable.

    22. This would be the type of book to share with a child to show what imagination is or could be. To me this is truly a sweet, sweet story. The illustrations are odd and colorful in a good way.

    23. great for kids who are really into pirates. lost attention in the middle, not sure where it was going. pictures a little scary - very pirate-esque.
