    2. For the past several summers, I have volunteered at a series of running races, The ENDURrun, which is attended by a variety of elite runners. During the course of the week, they run seven races over some very challenging terrain, covering a total distance of 160 kms.The greatest challenge of the week is feeding these runners in such a manner that they can recover quickly and run again the next day. Add to this task that at least several of the runners have dietary restrictions such as vegetarian [...]

    3. The face of Brendan Brazier blazes across the opening page of the book, along with a full body shot of him again at the beginning of the introduction. He certainly has an intimidating litany of accomplishments, from a former profession as an Ironman triathlete and two-time Canadian 50 km Ultra Marathon champion to designing the Vega product line to supplement the plant-based diet taught in his previous books, Thrive: The Vegan Nutrition Guide to Optimal Performance in Sports and Life and Thrive [...]

    4. NOTE: If you aren't a vegetarian, or considering being one, this book likely won't work for you. I loved this book, and I usually merely ingest books about food, if you'll pardon the expression. (Sorry.) Seriously though, Brazier not only give a shitload of great recipes for smoothies and other dishes, but he also gives some educational accounts of food transportation and distribution that is indispensable. If you're in North America, there's also a good directory of places to eat that provide o [...]

    5. It's in depth. More so than I bargained for, but that's a good thing. Probably one third information and two thirds recipes the book is a very handy reference for vegans and people seeking out healthy foods.

    6. Good information on the health and environmental impact of what you're eating. This book would be suitable for vegans and also anyone battling allergies. Lots of recipes, though some require a food dehydrator, which most people won't have.
